About Birchington Lights
Each year during December, the outside of our house is transformed into a light show with computer controlled Christmas lights and we call this Birchington Lights.
We use over 7000 computer controlled RGB LED’s, these are all controlled individually by little computers called Raspberry Pis, and Beaglebones, to make the lights come to life.
Each LED is called a Pixel, which are small intelligent lights. Each pixel can show over 16.5 million colours independent of each other!
Our display mostly makes use of WS2811 RGB pixels with controllers from Sandevices. This allows us to create a display that has to be seen to be experienced. The software we use is from Xlights and Falcon Christmas to design and control the display.
